Food City Fills Pantry of Local Family in Need

At the beginning of March, Food City was contacted by Telemundo with a very special request. Rebuilding Together El Paso and Home Depot have been repairing the home of an elderly veteran and his family. On Saturday, March 19th, 2016, they put the finishing touches on the home and presented it to the family. Food City was asked to fill the family’s pantry and refrigerator with groceries.

We received a description of the family’s living conditions:

The ceilings of the three bedrooms, of the kitchen and the bathroom are all tremendously damaged, with large holes where one can see the underside of the shingles or even daylight. There were bowls and pails everywhere to collect the water. Windows are not made of glass but of plastic sheets and tape, with blankets and towels as “sealing compound”…

We were happy to play a small part in this local El Paso family’s special day. It is only through the continued loyalty of our customers that we can give back to those who need it most.
