For over a year, construction has been taking place on the roads in front of our 5400 Alameda location (Fox Plaza). It can be confusing at times, and with the recent opening of a second lane in the roundabout, it can be even more confusing. We want you to get to our famous francesitos, fresh produce, and made-from-scratch tortillas as fast as you can, so here are a few tips on how to navigate the roundabout. Please note, we're not traffic experts!
Reconstruction of SH 20 (aka Alameda) in front of Food City is expected to continue through the summer. This Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) project involves improved lighting, improved drainage, sidewalks, two roundabouts, and a new "T" intersection at El Paso Drive. If coming from I-10 or north of I-10, most customers exit at Paisano and head south to reach us. There are a few recent changes that we'd like you to note:
If heading west on Alameda, you'll still see some construction. However, there is an open lane that will lead you straight into the roundabout. When the project is complete, you should expect to see something like this:
Heading east on Paisano toward Food City, you'll encounter a smaller roundabout before you reach the larger one in front of our store. You'll see this sign:
After driving through the smaller roundabout, you'll approach the larger one. The larger roundabout is between Food City and the Housing Authority. You'll notice a traffic sign before the larger roundabout like this, so be sure to stay in the far right lane:
